Our Wellbeing Services

Counselling

Hospital can be an overwhelming place for children and families. Our counselling service provides emotional support during what can be long and difficult stays.

About the service

A hospital admission, whether planned or emergency, can brings uncertainty, and stress for the whole family. Our ward counselling service provides a safe space for children and families to talk through their feelings, worries, and concerns with a trained counsellor. We help families process their emotions, develop coping strategies, and maintain their emotional wellbeing during challenging times.

Who it's for

Our counselling service supports Noah’s Ark patients of all ages and their families. Whether you're anxious about a procedure, struggling with a diagnosis, or finding the emotional toll of hospital overwhelming, counselling can help you process and manage these feelings.

How to access it

Counselling is available to patients and families. Speak with a member of the ward team who can arrange a session for you.

What to expect

A counselling session is a confidential, one-to-one conversation with a trained counsellor. You get to set the pace, share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. The counsellor won't judge; they're there to listen, help you explore your feelings, and work with you on practical strategies to cope. Sessions typically last X minutes.

"During the music therapy sessions, you can see Maeve’s heart rate come down. Even if she's asleep, she can still hear Becca."
