Superhero 5K Fun Day 2026

Let's make life better for children in hospital

I'm raising money for a cause close to my heart and would love your support. The goal of the Noah’s Ark Children's Hospital Charity is to create brighter todays and better tomorrows for the 90,000 children cared for at our nation's children's hospital each year.

The charity ensures that treatment and outcomes can continue to improve by funding new and innovative medical equipment and facilities. It supports children and families in the here and now through its emotional support service and the much loved play specialist team and it invests in the future by providing technology that helps train the bright clinicians of tomorrow. It also strives to make the hospital a less frightening and more familiar place for children by sprinkling a little fun and happiness into hospital days. As a charity that relies entirely on donations and gifts in Wills – this is all only made possible thanks to people like you and me.

Any money raised will be DOUBLED up to £19,000!! Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we have a match funding pot of £19,000 available! Any money you raise in sponsorship will automatically double until funds run out. That means that your support will have twice the impact for the children of Noah’s Ark!

Spinal muscular atrophy

Sunday 12th Apr
We are taking on the Noah’s Ark Superhero 5k, but the real superhero in this story is our daughter, Ophelia-May.

Our Journey with SMA

On 24th February 2025, our lives took an unexpected turn when Ophelia-May was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2. This rare genetic neuromuscular condition affects the nerve cells in the spinal cord, leading to progressive muscle weakness.
For Ophelia-May, this means that tasks many take for granted—like standing independently, walking, or even swallowing and breathing—require incredible effort and specialized care. While SMA presents daily challenges to her mobility and physical strength, it has never dimmed her spirit.

A Sanctuary at Noah’s Ark

When the diagnosis first came, we found ourselves at Noah’s Ark Hospital. Ophelia-May was cared for there for nine vital days, a time of immense uncertainty for our family. It was during these days that we witnessed the true magic of this facility.
Today, Ophelia-May continues to be supported by their incredible Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). The care she receives is world-class, but what makes Noah’s Ark truly special is that they don’t just treat a diagnosis—they care for the child. Beyond the medical charts, they have been a pillar of strength for us as parents, helping us navigate the complexities of this new "normal" with compassion and grace.

How You Can Help

We are lace-up our trainers for this 5k to ensure that Noah’s Ark can continue to provide this life-changing support to other families. The hospital relies on the generosity of the community to fund specialized equipment, family facilities, and the innovative treatments that enhance the quality of life for children like Ophelia-May.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference:
• It provides specialized equipment for mobility and comfort.
• It supports the dedicated staff who work tirelessly for our children.
• It gives families like ours hope for a brighter, stronger future.
Thank you for reading our story, for your generosity, and for standing with us as we run for Ophelia-May.

Together, we are making a difference.
